About Us

Who are We?

MySingleSpace.org was created by a consortium of professionals who are or have been single and could again become single at some point in their life. Many of us have also counseled individuals, who entered SingleSpace from various routes and with differing concerns. Yet some common issues continued to reoccur, and have become the foundation of MySingleSpace.

MySingleSpace is also grateful for those who encouraged and sponsored the Single Space Workshops (1999-2007), conducted first for psychotherapists who worked with single adults and then for members of several churches in the Chicago area. In addition, the contributions of the single people who participated in our “focus interviews” were invaluable in further refining the vision of MySingleSpace.org.

Wendy Wasson, Ph.D., developed the SingleSpace Workshops (1999-2007) that became the initial inspiration for MySingleSpace. Within her psychotherapy practice, she has worked with many single women and men on self esteem, relationship issues, and managing transitions in their lives. Dr. Wasson has an M.S.W. from Smith College School for Social Work and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University, where she is on the faculty of the Feinberg School of Medicine. She is also affiliated with The Cathedral Counseling Center in Chicago which was gracious in its support of the SingleSpace Workshops.

The JOURNALERS’ CLEARINGHOUSE is written each month by Beth Jacobs, Ph.D., a Clinical Psychologist in private practice and on the faculty of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.  She is the author of Writing for Emotional Balance: A Guided Journal to Help You Manage Overwhelming Emotions and has developed many avenues of journal-assisted therapy.

Dick Osgood, Ph.D., serves as Partner and Chief Scientist of iNTELLISHARE, a K-12 education company. Dick holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science specializing in Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence from Northwestern University. He has also earned Bachelors and Masters degrees from Yale University.

Kris also designs websites, and has served as an adviser during the design process for MySingleSpace.org.

Natalie K. Holzman, MSW, LCSW is
in private practice in Chicago, and works with adult and adolescent populations of various socio-economic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. Her current practice includes adults of all ages who present with a variety of anxiety and depressive disorders, regarding  relationships, marital, parent-child, and health related issues.  In addition to clinical practice, Natalie was a field instructor for several social work schools, held an adjunct faculty position at Loyola University’s School of Social Work, teaches a licensing study course, and continues as a member of the NASW Illinois Chapter Ethics Committee since 1989, a committee she chaired from 2000-2007.
